    So why is right to left better then back to front? Is it the stretch in the shoulder that you feel more with the right to left?

      You come in to the racket drop from a better angle, which makes it easier to maximally pre-stretch the muscles around the shoulder.

    I maintain, if we could all keep our heads as still as Roger and watch the ball as well as he does, we’d hit so much better. How does he watch the ball so effectively!? 😊

  • @wesleyoliver3312
    @wesleyoliver3312 7 днів тому

    My main takeaway was that being taught to "step with your opposite foot" during a volley is misleading (or was for me) because the loading and the necessity of moving the racket forwards without swinging it means you simply HAVE to be moving your whole body forward to meet the ball, and the step-through with the opposite foot is just the natural byproduct of that movement. Bonus takeaway! As an observer (either IRL or on VODs) the racket always LOOKS like it dips on contact, too, but it actually being held static and dipping AFTER contract due to the impact force/recoil from the ball. When someone is moving their whole body (and thus the racket) quickly during a volley it LOOKS like they swing their racket a bit (or a lot, even), but they're absolutely NOT!

    Good content! I totally have missed lifting my shoulder to extend hitting zone and hit a flatter ball. I am excited to see what kinda shape I can get on my forehands now. I’d also be interested to see a video talking about playing height as it relates to lifting the shoulder

    One thing about Feds forehand that ive been trying to emulate for years but can never do well enough is his hand/wrist/lag movement ...I have a decent forehand and do some things similar to his but his wrist movement is sublime.

    Actually, I have no business talking about the footwork, because when you have to drop your own ball to hit, and hit good shots like this with the good lag and power? the weight transfer should always look like you just did it! Congratulations! lol And, wtf is this VIEW you have from the court?!? One more thing. What Babolat raquet are you using?
